Istrian Kažuns

Istria is special in many ways, and one of the special features are the so-called kažuni. These are small stone houses built in the drywall technique, which means that no binding material was used, but only stone that was collected in the immediate surroundings. Apart from Istria, kažunes can also be found in some parts of Dalmatia, they can be round or square in shape, and they served shepherds as shelter in bad weather conditions, but also for keeping agricultural tools. There is a kažun park in Vodnjan where you can experience kažuns in real life, which is a great way to spend a fun day in nature!
